Concrete cat is a Canadian atelier established in 2007. We explore the use of concrete with a focus on colour, pattern and form. Concrete cat produces objet d’art, furniture, sculpture and architectural elements.

Matt Heide, Concrete Cat


Matt is the founder of Concrete Cat. Elusive and enigmatic, his affinity with cats can be observed with his ability to be seen and heard only when he wants to be. Matt prefers to remain in his studio and reach out through his work, Concrete Cat is his primary form of communication with the outside world.

The Concrete Cat studio is a place of passion and constant possibilities. Shawna's the Creative Director, Matt’s wife and business partner. She designs, translates, and communicates our message to the world. Working with extraordinary colour and texture are a part of her everyday. Life is good.

Erin Greenough, Concrete Cat


Erin is an artist, illustrator and printmaker. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Design and has since been practicing as a freelance illustrator with various local and international clients. She is enamored by plant and animal life, and finds a large part of her inspiration in science, philosophy, natural history and medicine. On her spare time, Erin runs a vegan & vegetarian arts and lifestyle blog called Tofu Cuties with her best friend.

Vivian Han-Tat, Concrete Cat


Vivian is a recent graduate from the University of Toronto holding an Honours Bachelor of Arts with concentrations in Architectural Design and Urban studies. From sketching detailed portraits and model-making to photographing strangers on the street, her creative contributions flow between disciplines brought together by the curiosity of human interaction and details of the everyday. At the studio, her role is to push Concrete Cat visuals in photography and digital media, while occasionally jumping in to assist on architectural design consultations.

Simple elegance. As a fresh Industrial Designer from the University of Alberta Kaiqiao has let this simple principle guide his design decisions. Kaiqiao is eager to understand design problems and redesign products to make them better and easy to use. He’s diligent and finishes what he starts.  Kaiqiao's passion for design drives him to develop new ideas, solve problem, and create new objects.

Nathan is our resident wizard and alchemist. He sees things others can't. He knows digital magic. He's a creative visionary and progressive with his designs and aesthetic. No matter what you give him he can creating something amazing. Every team needs a good wizard, someone who's loosened the grip of the world and is free to think, act and explore as they see fit.
