Sight Unseen 2016 Recap
We have recovered from the Sight Unseen Offsite show and our time spent in NYC for Design Week. Sight Unseen has done a wonderful job of documenting and cataloging all exhibitors on their website. We can't say enough good things about Monica and Jill and all the hard work they put in to make the show a success, I never saw either of them stop moving. They are two amazing women who share fine work and the stories of artists with the world, thank you!
It was an honour to show our work alongside so many talented artists. I could go on at length about all of them but here are a few favourites:
1. Saint Karen - The thing I found the most striking about her work is that it's both playful and elegant. It's a hard balance to find and Saint Karen does it very well.
2. Elyse Graham - Elyse combines soft etherial colours with forms made of resin, plaster, metal, etc. Her work is delicate and subtle, but has a depth that is telling of the care and attention she puts into each piece.
3. Dusen Dusen - Ellen Van Dusen's line of clothing, textiles, and home decor is a testament to the joy and emotion that Ellen puts into her work. I had the privilege of being beside her for the duration of the Sight Unseen Offsite show and it was blatantly clear that she lives her work. All the emotions that her work incites are a reflection of the genuine care and love Ellen has for the work she creates, it was quite a spectacle to observe.
Thank you so much to the Sight Unseen team and all the fine people we met during design week!
